Just prior to departure from the Cabin this am. The Dundek’s doing their final tech checks.
Then breaky at Macca’s.
Received a message from Col and Greg to say they were having breaky at Wycheproof - obviously an early start for them.
Col and Greg’s breakfast preparation in Wycheproof.
The Davey’s and I needed fuel so we headed off down the Bendigo rd to fuel up. I realised that this wasn’t our road home, so we recalculated our trip and headed off via Ouyen, Manangatang, Woorinen South and many other small hamlets/areas along the way.
Our second entry to Manangatang as we missed the sign the first time.
One of the grain silos along the way.
Woorinen South
Grain silos
We were travelling through grain growing territory today. We saw some long white plastic worms in some paddocks. As Steve was on the radio asking what I thought they were a farmer responded telling us they are socks for storing the grain in the paddock. They are good until sheep step into them and puncture them, eating the grain and allowing birds and mice and rats to raid it as well.
Lake Boga
We passed many of the lakes of the Kerang Lakes Reserve - Kangaroo, Boga and Charm to name a few.
Then home via Kerang, Cohuna, Gunbower and Torumbarry.
We dropped my Jerry can at Dads then we all headed into town for lunch at Monkee & co. The Davey’s headed off from lunch, firstly to secure an Echuca fridge magnet for Reve then onto Bright. Dad and I went shopping in preparation for the rest of the family descending from Melbourne tonight.
Unpacked Dads bits and pieces from my car and made bed etc in the Caravan for me tonight.
Just before tea I received a call and SMS from Col IN casualty at Latrobe Regional Hospital
Here’s Col looking a little worse for wear. His SMS assured that he was ok as follows…
‘As you can see, I am well. Blood tests were clear. Probably a bit of bronchitis so they are topping me up with oxygen. They promised they will release me soon so I can sleep in my own bed.’
Seems when Col got home with his cough Mary shuffled him off to Doc who was concerned about possible pneumonia and an infection so sent him to casualty for further tests.
For tea - I was telling Bron, Mike, Katie and friend Bonnie and Dad about the choc chip bickies I picked up on the track across the Simpson. The crushed choc chip bickies quickly became dessert- Simpson Desert Rocky soil over vanilla bean icecream with caramel sauce.
Dessert utilising the crushed Choc chip cookies I picked up on the track across the desert.
